1. Open your Yoga Retreat Planner. (If you don’t have one yet go to the YOGA RETREAT REVIEWS and review a retreat you have taken or create a fantasy retreat and get your own complimentary Yoga Retreat Planner.)
2. Fill out your personal information on the If Found Please Return to: page of your planner.
3. Skip the Costs page because I’m going to show how to do this without any cost to you.
4. Find a place in your home that will be a dedicated space to practice yoga and meditation. Not sure where to do that?
Here are some suggestions:
A spare bedroom or a guest room
In the corner of a room, you can use screens to make it more private
A basement space
An attic space
Garage
A tent in the backyard
No matter where you find the space, make sure your family and friends respect your privacy! Even if just for an hour. This is essential for the effectiveness of your personal yoga retreat. Regardless of your approach, this space can have a profound effect on your life and stress levels.
5. Go to the What to Bring page. Here are some ideas to prompt you to stock your space.
If you are not an experienced yogi, then equip your space with a tape, video, computer (a laptop is easier to re-locate if you have one) or DVD player. If you don’t already have a yoga library, there are several places to get started. Here is a great internet source for FREE ONLINE YOGA lessons. The library will have yoga videos or DVDs that you can borrow or your local video rental store is an inexpensive way to try some teachers until you find the ones you like. If you have a computer, there are lots of free videos on the Internet. Many cable companies also have yoga on demand that you can save and watch whenever you want.
Go to the Budget page and start making your wish list of things to add to your space such as your video or DVD library. Many bookstores have clubs that you can sign up for free and they will send you coupons or notices of sales to expand your library at a discount. Go to the Gifts page and start adding names of friends and family you can show how to have their own private retreat.
Use the dated diary pages to put down your thoughts in your new retreat.
Notice how each day in your retreat changes your awareness of your life and how you deal with stress. You may even discover the freedom to evolve and become your own best yoga teacher.
Whether your space is only the size of your mat or a separate room, clarify your intention for the space. Decorate the space to enhance the retreat ambience of the room and enjoy your own personal yoga studio.
